Mysore also known as “Mysuru” is Karnataka’s pride and is the second largest city in the state of Karnataka. Mysore is very famous for its heritage, art and history. Cheluvamba Vilasa and Karanji Vilasa palaces were built for third and second princess respectively. Mysore is spread across an area of 128.42 km2 and is situated at the base of Chamundi Hills. Mysore is placed between two rivers Kaveri and Kabini and is famous for its lakes, the most famous ones being Kukkarahalli, Karanji and Lingambudhi lakes. Mysore is a city known for its hygiene and has been rated as second cleanest city in India in 2010 after Chandigarh by the Urban Development Ministry under the National Urban Sanitation Policy. Mysore experiences the beauty with its royal majestic touch. Mysore has summers during March to May with a recorded maximum mercury level of 39°C and minimum of about 20°C. There will be a wide variation in temperature between days and nights in summers. Winter is pleasant whereas monsoon offers medium to heavy rain fall.
