Haunted “American Horror Story” - Television

American Horror Story is a horror drama television show which was launched and produced by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk. The pilot episode was aired on October 5, 2011 on FX in the United States.  The team of executive producers includes Dante Di Loreto, Brad Falchuk, Ryan Murphy and Bradley Bucker. Alexis Martin Woodland and Patrick McKee produced the show with the 20th Century Fox Television Production Company. The theme music was given by Cesar Davila- Irizarry and Charlie Clouser. The series gave 12 episodes in 1 season of run and still in move with the duration of 40-45 minutes.

The story moves around the Harmon family with Ben, Viven and their daughter Violet. The family moves to Los Angeles from Boston when Viven have a miscarriage and Ben’s affair. They take shelter in a resorted mansion which is haunted by the former inhabitants. Dr. Ben Harmon is played by Dylan McDermott, Viven Harmon by Connie Britton, Evan Peters portrayed for Tate Langdon, Jessica Lange for Constance Langdon, Denis O’Hare for Larry Harvey and Violet Harmon’s role was played by Taissa Farmiga.

During February 2011, FX officially declared the initials series of Murphy and Falchuk writing and appointing Dante Di Loreto as an executive producer. The production for the cycle was started in April, 2011. In August, 2011 Tim Minear, Jennifer Salt, James Wong and Jessica Sharzer were selected for writing. The initial episode was taken in the house in Country Club Park, Los Angeles which was built by Alfred Rosenheim in 1902, who was the president of the American Institute of Architects. 

Kyle Cooper and his company Prologue gave their best to create the pilot sequence. He also started the cycle for the AMC series The Walking Dead and the film Se7en in 1995. The scenes of post-mortem young children, unborn babies in jars, skulls, and nurse’s uniform and christening dress were shot in the Harmon’s basement. Murphy stated that the cycle is a mini-mystery and it reveals the story in ninth season of this season.

To promote the cycle FX launched a House Call campaign in which the viewers will get a chance to meet the stars of the show. Before the premiere of the series they released the various clues to throw light on the programme idea. They offered to show official YouTube channel. The clues included Cello, Baby, Couples, Voffin, Lying Down, Fire, Stairs, Melt, Red Cello and Rubber Bump. In September 2011 FX gave a website which shows the clues to viewers and they can watch American Horror Story online. 

The show received various nominations in Horror Writers Association Bram Stoker Award, Satellite Awards, Golden Globe Awards and many more alike. But the series won Superior Achievement in a Screenplay in Horror Writers Association Bram Stoker Awards in 2011, Outstanding Performance in a Television Series in 2011 and 2012 and Best Genre Series in 2011 in Satellite Awards.
